The Last Word is a special section for a commissioned feature article to go in The Writer's Chronicle. It is always at the end of the Feature Articles. For this section to stand out I was asked to create a special logo signifying the section. After creating numerous variations of interesting logos I had an ahha moment when I decided to do a more styalized logo based on the typical tabs of the magazine. One of the typical tabs is shown below for comparison. The opening spread also now has a specific layout that I follow when laying out the section. Including creating an illustration, either by custom digital drawing or by photo-manipulation, that has the signature blue-green coloring, top left fade and the bottom right image.
The tab themed logo for The Last Word. Now you may be wondering, why is the W bold. It actually isn't a W it is a lowercase Omega, the last letter in the Greek alphabet.
This is the tab that is usually present in The Writer's Chronicle sections.
